Neverland Nightmare comes to life on January 13

by Justine Norton-Kertson

The "Poohniverse" is set to expand with the upcoming release of Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, a horror reimagining of J.M. Barrie's classic tale. Directed by Scott Jeffrey, the film is scheduled for a limited theatrical run from January 13 to January 15, 2025.

This dark adaptation follows Wendy Darling, portrayed by Megan Placito, on a perilous journey to rescue her brother Michael, played by Peter DeSouza-Feighoney, from the malevolent Peter Pan, depicted by Martin Portlock. In this version, Tinkerbell, brought to life by Kit Green, is portrayed as a character struggling with substance abuse, mistaking heroin for pixie dust.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Jeffrey describes the film as "tonally an extremely darker film to 'Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey.'" Each installment in the "Poohniverse" will offer a unique experience, with "Peter Pan" being "the most vicious of them all."

The film's special effects are crafted by Shaune Harrison and Paula Anne Booker-Harrison of The Prosthetic Studio, known for their work on the Star Wars prequels.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is produced by Jagged Edge Productions and distributed by ITN Studios. The film is part of a broader initiative to reinterpret public domain characters through a horror lens, following titles like Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023), Blood and Honey 2 (2024), and other forthcoming films like Pinocchio Untrung (2025) and Bambi: The Reckoning (2025).

Audiences can anticipate a chilling twist on the beloved children's story when "Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare" arrives in theaters this January.
