New Stephen King Novel, Never Flinch, Coming May 2025

by Justine Norton-Kertson

Stephen King, the acclaimed master of nerd horror and suspense, is set to release his latest novel, Never Flinch, on May 27, 2025. This upcoming work intertwines two gripping narratives, introducing new characters while bringing back at least one familiar face from King's literary universe. Here at Nerd Horror, we’re huge Stephen King fans, and we’re always eagerly awaiting whatever’s he got for us next. Unsurprisingly then, we can’t wait for May.

In one storyline, the Buckeye City Police Department receives a chilling letter from an individual threatening to "kill thirteen innocents and one guilty" as retribution for the wrongful death of an innocent man. Detective Izzy Jaynes, perplexed by the ominous message, seeks assistance from her friend and renowned investigator, Holly Gibney. Holly, a recurring character in King's works, including Mr. Mercedes and The Outsider, returns to lend her expertise to this harrowing case.

Simultaneously, women's rights activist Kate McKay embarks on a multi-state lecture tour, attracting both supporters and detractors. As her events face escalating disruptions from a determined adversary, Holly is enlisted as Kate's bodyguard, navigating the complexities of protecting a headstrong client from a relentless stalker.

According to King’s website, the novel features other new characters “including world-famous gospel singer Sista Bessie and an unforgettable villain addicted to murder.” King's adept storytelling weaves these characters and parallel narratives into a chilling climax, showcasing his signature blend of suspense and character development. King’s website calls the climax “a chilling and spectacular conclusion—a feat of storytelling only Stephen King could pull off.”

Never Flinch promises to be a compelling addition to King's extensive bibliography, offering readers a thrilling exploration of vengeance, justice, and the human psyche. Fans can anticipate another masterful tale that delves into the darkness lurking beneath the surface of everyday life.
