31 Days of Nerd Horror: Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of our 31 Days of Nerd Horror series. Today we have a book called The Only Good Indians by Stephen Jones. Our movie for today is Silver Bullet starring Gary Busey. The game we’re highlighting today is Dead Space. And finally, Day 5’s Legend & Lore is The White Lady.

THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS BY STEPHEN GRAHAM JONES (2020)

The Only Good Indians is a horror novel by Stephen Graham Jones that blends the supernatural with cultural trauma. The novel follows four members of the Blackfeet Nation, switching between their perspectives as they are haunted by their own guilt and a spirit enraged by an incident that took place during an illegal hunting trip.

SILVER BULLET (1998)

Adapted from Steven King's novella Cycle of the Werewolf, the film Silver Bullet directed by Dan Attias takes place in the small town of Tarker's Mills, where a werewolf terrorizes the inhabitants. When Marty Coslaw, a paraplegic who gets around using a motorized wheelchair, witnesses a gruesome murder, he teams up with his sister and uncle to uncover the identity of the werewolf, and keep the town safe.

DEAD SPACE (2023)

A modern remake of the classic science fiction, survival horror game, Dead Space developed by EA Redwood Shores, breathes new life into this space faring fight for your life. Play as Issac Clarke, an engineer sent to investigate a distress signal from the ship Ishimura. A simple investigation goes horribly wrong when they find out the cause of the signal; an alien infection has broken out amongst the ship's crew reanimating dead bodies and turning them into sick, and twisted creatures craving nothing more than your death.

THE WHITE LADY (ROCHESTER, NY)

Legend has it that a woman in white haunts the grounds of Durand-Eastman Park, searching for her lost daughter, who she believes was kidnapped or killed. The "White Lady" has been sighted by many visitors to the park, sometimes accompanied by phantom dogs.
