Out Today, Priest Simulator: Vampire Show Redefines Absurdity

by Justine Norton-Kertson

Asmodev and Ultimate Games S.A. released Priest Simulator: Vampire Show on Steam today, transitioning from Early Access to a full release. This first-person action game blends elements of shooters, hack-and-slash, simulation, and sandbox genres, offering players an absurdly unique narrative experience.

In Priest Simulator: Vampire Show, players assume the role of Orlok, a vampire who unexpectedly becomes the priest of the village San de Ville. Tasks include battling "shatanistic" hordes, renovating a dilapidated church, performing exorcisms, and engaging in various unconventional activities. The game's distinctive storyline is set in a fantastical version of modern Poland, providing a satirical and humorous take on religious themes.

The game's developers describe it as a "mockumentary" action game, drawing comparisons to titles like "Postal" and "No More Heroes." Rafal Jelonek, COO of Ultimate Games S.A., noted that the game offers "a crazy and bizarre adventure in grotesque-absurd realities."

During its Early Access phase, which began in October 2022, Priest Simulator: Vampire Show received positive feedback from players, achieving a 96% positive review rate on Steam. The developers used this period to add features such as a full soundtrack, English and Polish dubbing, new quests, locations, and mechanics.

Coinciding with the full release, the developers also launched a paid add-on, "Her Ghost DLC," introducing a new storyline and additional exorcisms.

Priest Simulator: Vampire Show incorporates horror elements like exorcisms and supernatural battles while taking a satirical and humorous approach that, combined with its diverse gameplay mechanics, positions it as the kind of parody that we love here at Nerd Horror.

The game is available on Steam, offering players a distinctive gaming experience that challenges conventional genre boundaries.
