Welcome to Day 30 of our 31 Days of Nerd Horror series. Today we will be discussing a book called Flesh & Bone written by Jonathan Maberry. Our movie is A Quiet Place directed by and starring John Krasinski. The video game we’re highlighting is Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly developed by Tecmo. And our Day 30’s Legend & Lore is The Haunting of Fort Tejon in Southern California.
FLESH & BONE (2013)
Flesh & Bone by Jonathan Maberry is the third installment in the Rot & Ruin series, a post-apocalyptic young adult saga set in a world overrun by zombies. Benny and his crew continue on the journey to locate the sacred Sanctuary. Tension grows amongst the group as they are forced to deal with new threats, the emotional trauma of their losses, and the stress of living in a constant state of danger.
A QUIET PLACE (2018)
A Quiet Place, directed by and starring John Krasinski, is a horror thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with a deadly alien species that hunts using sound. The plot follows the Abbot family, and explores in depth their daily routine which is further complicated by guilt, terrifying circumstances, and the mother's pregnancy.
FATAL FRAME II: CRIMSON BUTTERFLY
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, developed by Tecmo, is a survival horror game and the second installment in the Fatal Frame series. Twin sisters stumble upon an eerie, abandoned village linked with an ancient sacrificial ritual that steals away one of the sisters. Using the game's unique combat mechanic, the Camera Obscura, capture and excorcise ghosts to save your sister.
THE HAUNTING OF FORT TEJON (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)
Fort Tejon just north of Los Angeles County in southern California holds some very dark secrets. Was Peter Le Beck killed by a bear or an Native American Chief named, Black Bear? Will the ghosts of those who suffered and were hanged at the fort ever speak? Or do they already? Rikki Rocket’s Legend Tripping explored Fort Tejon and the legends behind it.
