Day 31 of the 31 Days of Nerd Horror
Welcome to Day 31, the final day of our 31 Days of Nerd Horror series, our final day! Today we will be discussing a book called The Coldest Girl In Coldtown written by Holly Black. Our movie is Halloween III: Season of the Witch directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. The video game we’re highlighting is Until Dawn. And our Day 31 Lore is all about the mysterious corporation known as The ConGenement.
THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN (2013)
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black is a dark, gritty, and imaginative young adult novel that breathes new life into the classic vampire genre with a dystopian twist. In a world where vampirism is as contagious as a disease, Coldtowns have been created around highly infected areas to trap the spread. When Tana wakes up to a vampire chained in her house, and her ex-boyfriend infected, she decides to bring them to a Coldtown. There she is tempted by vampires and must desperately cling to her humanity.
HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH (1978)
Halloween III: Season of the Witch, directed by Tommy Lee Wallace, is the third installment in the Halloween series but notably departs from its predecessors, moving away from the slasher genre and not featuring Michael Myers. Instead it focuses on a standalone story, exploring a supernatural horror plot focused on the fictional Halloween mask manufacturer Silver Shamrock Novelties, and a deadly conspiracy involving their masks.
UNTIL DAWN
Until Dawn is an interactive horror game following eight friends reunited after a tragic event. Set at a snow-covered mountain lodge in the middle of the woods where the group is pursued by a killer, every decision you make affects the branching narrative, and can make the difference between life and death.
THE CONGENEMENT (USA)
The ConGenement is said to be derived from an ancient cult and consist of the most elite of the one percent of Americans and the world at large. Some believe the ConGenement are tied to an ancient cult hellbent on living forever. They have been tied to everything from abductions of children to influencing the course of history as well as assassinations and disasters. Researcher Barlowe Cross interrupted a cyberpunk event in 2014 in an attempt to expose The ConGenement.
